Situated on the English Heritage listed Terlingham Manor Farm estate, Terlingham Vineyard and Winery is one of England’s smallest commercial vineyards with its own onsite winery.
Nestled on gentle south facing slopes near the historic Kent village of Hawkinge, our winery produces a small handmade selection of fine still and sparkling wines, each vintage unique in taste and character. Our vineyard has 5,500 vines with cultivars Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Bacchus, Rondo and Dornfelder.
All aspects of the winemaking process use traditional methods, from handpicking the grapes, to riddling the sparkling wines in traditional pupitres and disgorging. This hands-on approach means each and every wine is made with oodles of heart, with a clear focus on quality and taste.
In terms of location, Terlingham Vineyard is the perfect spot to make sparkling wines. The gentle slope of our south facing vineyard provides good drainage for our vines, and the chalky soil makes our vines work that little bit harder when they’re pushing down their roots, making for stronger vines and more delicious grapes. The gentle climate (which we share with the Champagne region in France) is also essential to the terroir that allows us to create these truly wonderful, delicate wines.
Winners at the English and Welsh Wine Awards for two consecutive years, at Terlingham we produce wines that reflect the characteristics of each individual harvest by allowing nature to influence the subtle differences between vintages.
What’s more, we invite you (by appointment only) to come and visit us, taste our wines and discover a newfound appreciation for delightful fine English wines.
